Mihai Flueraru, founder of Enrollmate Ltd., has been awarded CEO / Director of the Year in the Business Training and Education sector at the 2025 Greater London Business Awards, hosted by Business Awards UK. The award recognises his leadership in making higher education more accessible to adults who have traditionally been left behind by the system.

Mihai’s personal journey has informed every aspect of Enrollmate’s mission. After arriving in the UK without a formal plan, he began working 12-hour shifts in farms, factories and warehouses. It was during this period that he began to understand how many people, like him, wanted more from their future but didn’t know how to take the next step.

Founded to address this need, Enrollmate offers free, one-on-one support to individuals considering higher education without charging students for help. The organisation focuses on those who are often excluded from traditional university routes, including mature students, immigrants, parents and low-income earners.

Support is delivered by real people, not automated systems. From identifying suitable courses and preparing applications to navigating Student Finance and understanding eligibility for benefits such as Maintenance Loans and Childcare Grants, the team at Enrollmate offers clear, tailored guidance based on each individual’s situation.

Enrollmate is both a UCAS registered centre and staffed by British Council certified advisors, offering trusted and regulated support. Under Mihai’s leadership, the company has helped over 500 people in the past year alone to enrol at university, many of them the first in their families to do so.

The consultancy also assists those unsure about what to study, helping candidates explore courses that align with their lifestyle and goals. Enrollmate promotes flexible study options, including pathways that allow students to attend university just two days a week. This approach is particularly beneficial for those balancing work, childcare or other commitments.

To extend its impact further, Mihai has introduced outreach campaigns encouraging applications from individuals without formal qualifications and is developing an AI powered platform to support users in writing CVs, personal statements and checking funding eligibility. He is also exploring partnerships with Jobcentres across the UK to offer education as a long-term pathway for job seekers.

Despite operating remotely, Enrollmate generates over £200,000 annually, reinvesting profits into outreach, free resources and personalised support. The business model is designed not only to be sustainable, but also to ensure that no one is turned away due to cost.

Mihai’s recognition as CEO / Director of the Year highlights a values-driven approach to leadership, built on empathy, clarity and direct experience. His work with Enrollmate continues to open doors for those who might otherwise believe higher education is out of reach, offering guidance from first enquiry through to graduation.
