A Multicultural Comfort-Food Cookbook Blends Indian, East African, and American Traditions

NY, NY – February 19, 2026 – A new cookbook, American Fare with an Indian Flair, introduces readers to a unique fusion of Indian, East African, and American comfort foods, shaped by a real immigrant family’s journey across three continents.

Nazlin’s parents moved from India to East Africa in the 1950s, and the family later emigrated to the United States during the 1972 Ugandan Asian expulsion. After getting married to a Caucasian American and having a demanding engineering career in America, the author began developing simplified recipes that merged traditional spices with everyday American cooking.

The result is a practical, family-friendly cookbook designed for modern households. Rather than preserving recipes exactly as they existed generations ago, the book adapts them to busy lifestyles while maintaining cultural identity through flavor.

“I taught myself how to make simple American dishes with available Indian spices. These recipes are a culmination of those experiments.”

The cookbook features:

  • Indian-inspired American comfort foods
  • Simplified traditional recipes
  • Practical everyday cooking methods
  • Holiday and family gathering dishes
  • Guidance on essential pantry spices

Dishes range from Masala Meat Loaf and Tangy Tandoori Chicken to Curried Marinara Sauce, Quinoa Khichdi, and Peppermint Kulfi, reflecting a multicultural kitchen where heritage and practicality meet.

American Fare with an Indian Flair is intended for home cooks seeking approachable global flavors without complicated preparation. The book celebrates adaptation, resilience, and the universal role of food in creating belonging across cultures.

American Fare with an Indian Flair is now available in print and digital formats at leading online bookstores.
