Though every business strives to run as smoothly as possible, few envision a scenario in which they can attempt, let alone come close to addressing all their gaps. However, there is one Business Analyst who has moved the needle in addressing corporate inefficiency to levels previously thought impossible. That individual would be the Solutions Architect. Sathyanarayanan Veeramani.
Over the past decade, Veermani has emerged as one of the leading analysts in the world, addressing some of the most complex efficiency issues that corporations face, and finding the answers to their most vexing problems. Veeramani combines a unique approach with an unmatched skill set that has changed the game of business analysis and is setting benchmarks across the industry.
In the Beginning
Most use traditional methods of entering a field, whether it be through taking on a rigorous educational regimen to obtain a degree in a specific area, or doing a specialized apprenticeship. While that is completely understandable, sometimes going the traditional route can box-in thought and stifle new approaches.
While most business analysts start with the theoretical, Veeramani took a different route by getting his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from St. Peter’s Engineering College. In doing so, he was able to gain a better understanding of the technical side by taking a more hands-on approach to problem solving. In this world, the theoretical always gives way to the practical, and it was here Veeramani began his journey in taking a new approach to business analysis.
Seeing the Gaps
Starting his career as a systems engineer for Infosys, Veeramani began to notice design challenges within their software. However, instead of just trying to correct the issues as would most analysts, he began to see other possibilities and actually began to develop unit, system, and integration testing models to better identify problems.
It was this unique approach that led to new discoveries allowing him to compile effort estimates, and generate weekly metric reports to assist in guide project management. It was from these reports that he was not only able to address the original problems, but refresh the entire system, resulting in a workload reduction of 15%.
Moving Into the Next Phase
The efficiency and increased output levels of the company had Infosys moving Veeramani into new roles, often in areas that crossed-over from just technical input, to analysis and solution driven feedback. This meant that he was no longer limited to software adjustments and technical design.
In 2013, he was put in charge of coordination between onsite and offshore teams, putting together complete mitigation plans, and reported to management on ways to more effectively oversee projects. By the following year, he was designing new comprehensive test strategies as well as current application enhancements. His involvement even moved into client request, access feasibility, and projected cost of production estimation.
Becoming In-Demand
Noticing a rising star, Zensar Technologies brought on Veeramani to be their project lead on their senior business systems analyst team. It was here that his true talents began to shine. Through his time, Veeramani completely overhauled process automation initiatives, increased supply chain product quality functions, and was able to provide data that greatly enhanced marketing strategies.
In addition, management took notice of his ability to communicate complex ideas into understandable formats. Soon he found himself instrumental in fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring alignment with company objectives and project goals. It was at Zensar that Veeramani truly found his footing as a comprehensive and gifted Business Analyst.
The Next Step
Since his time at Zensar Technologies, Veeramani has developed a plethora of systems. This includes his efforts on Cisco’s ARGUS Risk Monitoring and Mitigation platform that has quickly become a benchmark of excellence in the industry. Its revolutionary “Self-Serve Capability” software has dramatically reduced IT onboarding time for new processes from four weeks to one.
Veeramani’s talents have served as a game-changer for Cisco as he has floated effortlessly between his two roles as a Business Systems Analysis Manager and Solutions Architect. It is a highly specialized and unique combination that keeps him at the forefront of both the technical and software side, to the interpersonal team leadership and stakeholder engagement front.
The Next Frontier
Veeramani is already looking to create new systems, even more advanced than his industry standard ARGUS platform. However, it is his talent to bring others into the fold, and allow them to see his vision of how to integrate new technologies to solve problems and create new efficiency levels which makes him truly unique in the industry. His efforts are not only redefining how technology can be utilized but even the role of what a Business Systems Analyst can be.
